Books in May, 2010

Okay then, books in May, go.

1. Cotillion, Georgette Heyer
This book was hysterical. Kitty and Freddy were adorable and the convoluted plot resembled Wodehouse more then Austen.

2. The End of the Beginning of the End, Rockne O'Bannon
Artistically, I couldn't draw my eyes away, and the plot and dialogue of the book were right on with the show. If Farscape wasn't canceled, this is just it's naturally progression.

3. The Autobiography of Malcolm X, Alex Haley
I had to read this for school really, but I ended up really enjoying it. I guess you could say it made me aware of something I had not known existed previously.

4. Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, Ben H. Winters
Basically, this book was brilliant. Nautical, watery, hysterical, epic, weird, and still Austenish. I believe all good things can be tampered with a bit.

5. Early Candlelight, Maud Hart Lovelace
As a book I enjoyed it. As a book written by Betsy and Joe, I adored it. I could just see them all over it, and that made it an epic reading experience.

6. The Mating Season, PG Wodehouse
Devastatingly charming Corkey, fairy-child Madeline, ever noble Bertie, Jeeves' uncle and a bouncing baby. You've outdone yourself Wodehouse.

7. Flight 714, Herge
I have been reading Tintin since I was about 5, and they've never let me down. ALIENS.

8. Orthodoxy, GK Chesterton
So I decided to dive into the world of theology. Orthodoxy was amazing, and like most improving literature, made me feel like a better person just by reading it.

9. Strange Detractors, Rockne O'Bannon
John and Aeryn and Deke are the best little family unit. I really enjoyed how this one brought in more elements from the show: Grayza and her baby, and the Scarrens, Sikozu and the Eidolons.

10. The Complete Stories of Evelyn Waugh, Evelyn Waugh
I have found a new favorite author in Evelyn Waugh. His words are magic. My favorites include Love in the Slump, Cruise, On Guard, Winner Takes All and Lucy Simmonds.

I read a Doctor Who spoiler that made my heart shatter. Excuse me while I go pick up the pieces. We went to Sagamore Hill today and I was amazed that nature exists. I sometimes get tired of stifling city life.
