So this is (sorta kinda) Christmas

Bad day. I banged my shin at work, and it still hurts. I've got loads of school to do, I'm really tired, I got rained on, and Dad drank my coffee. ;__; What makes it better? CHRISTMAS MUSIC! Here was the day's mix.

Last Christmas, Wham!

Star of Wonder, Sufjan Stevens

Same Old Lang Syne, Dan Fogelberg

Winter White, A Fine Frenzy

So This is Christmas, John Lennon

It Really is a Wonderful Life, Mindy Smith

I want to go to bed early tonight.

Special Birthday Post

Guess whose birthday it is? It's Fox Mulder's 49th birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOU BEAUTIFUL WONDERFUL FICTIONAL MAN. Have fun doing whatever it is you're doing. I sincerely hope Skinner sends you a card.

Okay, I'm done.

Fall Foods

Something about 50 degree weather and bright red trees makes me think about food.... more than usual.

Pecan pie. I've never made a good pecan pie. Actually, I haven't really made many pecan pies. But I do enjoy eating them. They make your teeth hurt.

Twinings tea. After a summer of light teas like Yogi and Stash it's time to get back to the serious teas. And Twinings is serious. Their Afternoon Tea brewed loose is perfection.

Strip steak. It's just good man.

Baked macaroni and cheese. I believe I have expressed my love for mac'n'cheese before, but something about it screams OCTOBER.

Werthers caramels. So I was sitting at my desk today, listening to Sufjan and reading
All Quiet on the Western Front and I swear, all I could think about were these stupid caramels.

White chocolate. I find white chocolate very autumnal. (Dark is winter and milk is spring and summer is void of chocolate.)

Broiled potatoes. My mom has started making these again, all covered in olive oil and spices...

Graham crackers. There is a simple beauty in a graham cracker. It's been way too long since I've had one.

(Also last night I watched Bella Martha, a German movie about two chefs which meant LOTS OF FOOD. You should watch it, it's awesome! God made subtitles for a reason you know.)

Autumn Colors

Two posts because I might not be posting this weekend due to COMIC-CON. Anyway. Autumn colors. The whole month is October should be a national holiday so we can enjoy it.

I love having cold feet because I love wearing socks. Oh, autumn. You do strange things to me. You make me read Lord of the Rings, bake scones, listen Mumford and Sons and make six cups of tea in one day. You make me feel lonely.

Halloween Meme

Cause it's only like a month and four days away....

What was your first halloween costume?
One and only, first and last, Olivia Dunham. I look enough like her and her wardrobe is SIMPLE.

When was the last time you went trick-or-treating?
Try never. I'm way too old now and we never did when I was a child. Somehow I always get a bunch of candy though...

M&Ms or Skittles?
Come on, m&ms duh!

What would you love to be?
Sikozu Shanu of Farscape.

Berry or Tropical Flavors?
This is hard... berry.

Sour or Sweet?
Sour obviously... Sour Patch is a god among candy.

Ghosts or Vampires?
Ghosts can be underwhelming but I've got this soft spot for Victorian-haunted-house-ghosts.

White, Milk, or Dark Chocolate?
White chocolate is the best chocolate
.

What is your biggest pet peeve about trick-or-treaters?
The sixteen-year-old girls who wear skimpy lame costumes and expect candy.

Chocolate-covered Raisins or Peanuts?
Peanuts because I don't like raisins ever.

Bubble gum or lollipops?
I'm a gum chewer at heart.

Zombies or Aliens?
Do you know me at all? Aliens till the end of time.

I wish there was something to look forward to on Monday nights... idk. Monday is seriously anti-climactic.

It's only 363 days till Vday!

So have some Valentine's. Either three days late, or three hundred early. See? You're all set for next year.

This is cute. I'm drinking tea right now, but my cup isn't smiling at me.

LOST is like a universal invariant. The day it's over I will cry like a baby.

Pretty. (I swear without Tumblr this blog would be dead by now.)

I'M SORRY. THIS IS THE FUNNIEST THING EVER. Rorsh would never love you though. Love is sordid.

My heart. It melts.

Emmy's 2009 Valentine gift to the world. (This is Kate and Mr. I-Have-A-Locker-Next-To-You. Only Kate stalks creepy, and this girl is cute.)

My bbs are very in love. And I'm very in love with them. Burdge-Bug has great fanart Valentine's.

Marry me Anthony. Once you get through marrying Emmy that is.

I'm moving to southern California. Somewhere where it does not snow. Or rain. Or get damp and cold and slushy. Today was a rather bad day. I hope to finish school as fast as possible and then watch Farscape (Gilina ;_;) and have brownies and not move till tomorrow.
Dear Gene Kelly's Voice,
I love you.
What would I do without you?
On bad days you make me happy.
On happy days you make me happier.

Love, Me.

Top Five Sci-Fi Couples (And chocolate)

It's Valentine's Day. I hate Valentine's Day. Just like any other self-respecting single teenage girl without a crush who has gotten sick from too much chocolate at least once in her life. I suppose this calls for a post full of schmaltz then, no?
I picked these five couples because their love transcends space and time. (Also the laws of physics and biology. Romantic enough yet? Good.) Their love can survive alien abductions and time travel, carbon freezing, cloning, and pretty much anything. They aren't couples from sci-fi. They are sci-fi couples. And everyone knows sci-fi couples are most romantic.
*Warning: Inter-species relationships are condoned in the following*

John Crichton and Aeryn Sun. First of all, they would have never met if it wasn't for wormholes. And they couldn't understand each other without translation microbes. Plus their son is a super-fast-Peacekeeper-baby, John splits into two, and they get blown up, then put back together, baby, engagement ring and all. Now, that is a love based in sci-fi.

Lois Lane and Clark Kent. Well, does the fact that he's from Krypton mean anything? Or the whole super powers thing? Their cannon differs a bit depending on what comics you read, what shows you watch, and what your favorite movies are, but Lois and Clark are Soulmates and Epic and Belong Together. On any plant, any dimension, any universe.

Kyle Reese and Sarah Connor. They don't really spend a lot of time together, but there is something right about them. I mean, he time travels to her! They save the world together, because they're John's parents! They're destiny, meant to be, predestined to be in love! io9 said it best. "Their love is a time paradox, and paradoxes are automatically romantic."

Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. Scully was abducted, had all her reproductive stuff stolen, got alien cancer, an alien transplant. Mulder was also abducted, and both of them had files in the Scary File Cabinet of Smallpox Vaccines. Basically, they would have never found each other without the X-Files, and if Mulder had been wrong, she would have quit, and they would have never fallen in love.

Han Solo and Leia Organa. They are practically the first Epic Sci-fi Love Story Ever. (Excuse the excess of capitalization.) They are such complete soul mates that Luke became Leia's brother to kill off the Luke/Leia fanatics. She saves him from carbon freezing! He rescues her from the Death Star! She loves him, and he knows! It's fate!

Here, my friends, have some chocolate.

Have some more.

1. I know I left of Doctor/Rose, but it didn't seem right to include them. They don't have a happy ending, they don't stay together forever, and truly, he can never really love her, or anyone else.
2. Now go read this brilliant review of What Kate Does. The author is a die-hard Skater, but she has some excellent insight.
3. I miss T:tscc so much right now.
I really need a life. Thankfully Smallville and Fringe both have 90% chances of renewal no need to fret this year.
4. I've got school to do if I want to go out tomorrow, and to the movies Tuesday. So enough moping Sarah. You've been single for 16 years, you should be used to it by now. Math time.

Everyone loves a good sweater

It's over. I'm back. Happy New Year. Etc. Behold, the scary tradition of Christmas sweaters.

Ohh! The
irony!

Awkward cut, right?

Scariest one I could find.

This one isn't so bad I suppose.

This was selling for, I kid you not, $40 on Etsy.

This one I might actually wear.

Ah, Massachusetts was awesome. I got to see Walden to take a tour of Orchard House and we ate at awesome diners and hung out with family and now I just want to sleep forever.
