In 2010: Events

Actually, it's been an uneventful year. I didn't see many plays or shows... Kinda sad really.

MoCCA Festival. Where I met Kate Beaton.

The Winter's Tale at the Delacorte. Where I saw my favorite Shakespeare play come to life, and bring me to tears.

Relient K with The Gay Blades and The Narrative. Where I fell in love with Matt... all over again.

German Intensive Language Camp at Millersville. Where "genau" was the word of the day.

Comic-Con Weekend. Where I felt comradery with my brothers in geekdom.

Eisley with Christie DuPree and Ives and the Band. Where I never get bored of Lost at Sea.

What Life Looks Like

These last few weeks.

Balancing chemical equations is really messy.

Except maybe my mind doesn't WANT TO BE INSPIRED.

Our living room right now. Watching tv is kinda difficult.

For all my Halloween needs I just go to one of Plenilune's dozens of livejournals and blogs and tumblrs and fanfic sites.

German translations and copywork...

I've got these AMAZING Gilligan and O'Malley slippers.

At least the trees are pretty!

My library holds right now... That book on top? I've been waiting for it since May.

I hope this ugly (yet informative) post was informative. I'm really sorry for being AWOL on and off. But tomorrow I'll post my monthly book post and you'll get to see which lucky book was 120!!

Deutsch Filmen

I've been watching some German movies lately. It's fun and really hard and I usually get a headache after.

Stauffenberg

Sissi

Goodbye Lenin!

Lola Rennt

Bella Martha

Life is feeling very hectic. We are gutting our bathroom and putting in new everythings. Our home is in uproar.

My day... in lame pictures

I am a brain-dead zombie. I can't seem to focus. So I'll document my day via images.

I had oatmeal for breakfast, which is pretty cool because I never have oatmeal because my own oatmeal tastes awful and I need my mom to make it for me.

So I got to the half-way point in my composition-notebook-diary. Keeping a diary is cool and keeping them in composition notebooks keeps them consistent.

I translated the lyrics of a Deutsch song which was pretty cool.

Smallville's 200th episode is tonight, which is pretty cool. Actually I think more along the lines of awesome.

I had a pumpkin latte at Dunkin' Donuts. The first of the season, which is pretty cool. Although now I have a stomach ache.

I'm reading this book which is pretty cool. It's a collection of Jane Austen litcrit essays. My copy has a prettier cover.

I worried about Fringe. I asked it very nicely not to cross this one line... and then it went and did it. And now we're literally sleeping with the enemy. Not cool.

And that was my riveting day minus about five hours of school and some dish washing and laundry folding. WOOT.

Fall Foods

Something about 50 degree weather and bright red trees makes me think about food.... more than usual.

Pecan pie. I've never made a good pecan pie. Actually, I haven't really made many pecan pies. But I do enjoy eating them. They make your teeth hurt.

Twinings tea. After a summer of light teas like Yogi and Stash it's time to get back to the serious teas. And Twinings is serious. Their Afternoon Tea brewed loose is perfection.

Strip steak. It's just good man.

Baked macaroni and cheese. I believe I have expressed my love for mac'n'cheese before, but something about it screams OCTOBER.

Werthers caramels. So I was sitting at my desk today, listening to Sufjan and reading
All Quiet on the Western Front and I swear, all I could think about were these stupid caramels.

White chocolate. I find white chocolate very autumnal. (Dark is winter and milk is spring and summer is void of chocolate.)

Broiled potatoes. My mom has started making these again, all covered in olive oil and spices...

Graham crackers. There is a simple beauty in a graham cracker. It's been way too long since I've had one.

(Also last night I watched Bella Martha, a German movie about two chefs which meant LOTS OF FOOD. You should watch it, it's awesome! God made subtitles for a reason you know.)

Back to school and other things

School is boring. But it is way better than being bored! And I was going crazy. Here are my main subjects this year.

History. I am doing World History. Which is cool, but I need to rewire by brain... I'm still in America!!!!!! mode. One day in. I'm already tired of stupid China.

Math. SAT prepping, still, cause I'm retaking the stupid thing. And Trig, but that's not till later this year.

English. I'm reading Young Werther right now, hahaha. He was the original Emo poet child.

German 3. It's scary! It's soo scary!!!! But I'm really exciting, I can't wait to do mad translations!

Science. I'm usually a science idiot but I'm bravely attacking Chem. Maybe I'm not actually a science idiot. Who knows.

In general... everything went better then I expected. (Amusing use of favorite internet meme is amusing.)

Tonight will most likely be boring. Since we finished the X-Files our evenings have decreased in quality. Ah well. Fringe in two weeks, so that's good I guess.

Es war sehr schön

I found some wonderful Deutsch music this week of self discovery. It's such I lovely language, I found new depths to my love for it.

Juli, Ich Liebe Diesesleben.

Annett Louisan, Drück die Eins.

Wir Sind Helden, Nur ein Wort.

Mia, Damit du Fühlst.

Nena, Leuchtturn.

2raumwohnung, Wir Trafen uns einem Gerten.

Sophie Hunger, Walzer Fur Niemand.

I have been crying on an off all day, I needed another four days there at least. Everything from the hacky-sack to German Chocolate Cake on a curb to our tie with the Frenchies in Fußballspielen to exploding icing and "Fluch der Karibik" and all the laughing I did in German. Did you know laughing in German sounds different? It totally does.
