Lately I have been very whiny. So I think that I should make a list of things I am thankful for. Some of these are VERY SERIOUS and some are just things that I honestly am thankful for no matter how dumb.


I am thankful for my angelic ball of sunshine and shenanigans, Lady Jane Gray. She loves me enough to wake me up at 4:30am every morning to make sure I am not late to work. It's not her fault she doesn't know that I only work three days. She hates posing for photos...


I am thankful for iCarly because I instantly respond to its joyfulness. Like the reaction I have to coffee or brownies.


I am thankful for a church where, even though I can't get involved, I want to get involved. It took long enough.


I am thankful for my mom and everything she has done for me... every book recommendation, every carefully picked curriculum. She taught me from a young age that Jane Eyre and Star Trek are important. She likes to monologue about politics. I'd be pretty boring and dumb without her. The above picture is an accurate representation of our relationship. Totally.


I am thankful for Pratt Saturday Morning Art Classes. Pratt looks like Hogwarts and it's such a lovely way to spend the autumn and I learned a ton there. It's clear now I'll never to to art school, but Pratt is just enough that I don't mind too much.


I am thankful for living a subway ride away from glorious Downtown Brooklyn and a slightly longer subway ride away from Manhattan. I don't know what my life would be without my monthly museum trips.


I am thankful for Hermione Granger and Dana Scully who remind me daily that hard work, determination, dedication, integrity, resourcefulness, decisiveness and a ton more scary character qualities are what it really takes to be a Strong Female (of) Character.


I am thankful for having a job I don't hate at a young age which is teaching me all about good work ethics. I am thankful that my coworkers and the majority of the costumers are really terribly nice people who I am glad to know.

X-Files guuuhh I have been rendered speechless OKAY? Doggett and Reyes = too happy to exist on this gloomy show. Mulder and Scully = too perfect to exist in this dark and loveless world. Agent Harrison = too much lip-liner to exist in 2002.

What was the last song you listened to? The Eclipse soundtrack over and over and over again. My dad is a saint who bought it for us, he actually really likes it.


What was the last thing you watched? I haven't watched a new movie in over two months. I live on a steady diet of Files, Who and iCarly. Speaking of iCarly, last thing I watched was iBelieve in Bigfoot.


What are you wearing? Sweatshirt and shorts. Like this picture only less West-coast-sexy-teen


What was the last thing you ate? A Subway spicy Italian sub, I tried not to have to buy lunch, I really did...


What was the last gift you received? The Making of Fight the Future! Meagan is the best friend ever, she knows me too well. Filled with sexy David and Gillian being sexy.

What was the last thing you drank? Coffee baby, nothing else. Bodega coffee, the really strong kind with too much cream.

Today I rode my SCOOTER. I remember the year I got it, red and black because those were our ISNA colors. You can tell I was a late 90's kid, haha. I miss riding it.
Han and Ben are watching Hoot and Luke Wilson is in it, and basically playing Sheriff Hartwell. Oh my.

LOST, Lost by lolmrkite.
There are a few LOST vids set to this song, but this one is by far the best. It actually has a bit of a narrative.

I am officially in need of new fandoms. Lost, HP, X-Files and Farscape are all over. Time to move on I think...
Today I attempted formatting True Girl but I have nooo inspiration so it's going badly. Hard work and me are not friends today.

In which I cross a line in geekdom and rec fic

I love fanfiction. It's my happy place. Although I have some rules for myself (I don't read AU, WIPs, R or "Adult" fics) I still manage to find lots of awesome stuff. Here are my 5 favorite fictions. There is some kissing and language but if you've ever seen a PG-13 movie, these ficlits are not going to scar you for life.


And Astoria takes the ring and throws her life, her name, her reputation, to the winds and smiles as she does it.
My favorite fic. It's so cannon in my head, I can't imagine Astoria any differently. Draco was wonderfully written, he's such a hard character to write; the entire Malfoy family is dangerous territory. But this fic was perfect and lovely and should be published. (3 chapters)


They don’t plan a lot for the last iCarly, even though Spencer spent six hours redialing the Woodland Park Zoo (trying to get a lion or “at the very least, man, a penguin. Can you not lend me one little penguin?”).
I have read more iCarly fic then any other fandom. It's a small fandom with only a few characters, so it's easy to weed out the bad ones. I love Seddie, but I never felt they were something that could happen on screen. I like how this fic is distanced from the show, but still hysterical and in character.


When she asks, Dani says “He’s a good cop” and “He’s my partner” and Davis wonders if she would have said the same thing about Jack Reese all those years ago.
Life fic is hard to find, I think I've read it all. (Including an X-Files crossover which I never finished because it made no sense.) Life fic has a tendency to be non-romantic because the show is so unromantic. This fic is just a great look into Davis' head: cannon, believable, beautiful.


Martha! You met Shakespeare. William Shakespeare. Surely you can go one night without washing your face, right? Right.
Three ficlits for the three companions of Ten. Rose's is beautiful, although more romantic then I imagined them to truly be. Donna's is hysterical, and Martha's is divine. The voice used in Martha's made my jaw drop. It was so accurate, I feel like it was in the show.


It had seemed an almost trivial thing to buy him, except she isn't sure she has anything trivial left when it comes to Mulder. There are fathoms to this, whole dimensions curled and folded between them.
The dialogue in this was spot on, which for the X-Files is pivotal, and the writing was beautiful, and it was romantic without being sexy or anything because Scully and Mulder are PRUDES. It's by the girl who did the Demons vid to Sufjan, so you know it's good.

I spent like an HOUR this morning putting St Anthony rolls in bags. So tired. I need coffee and meat and a nap. I love 90's music.

Random Guest Stars

You know, when that guy from that show has the guts to show up of this different show? And it totally throws you off for the whole episode.


Scorpius on LOST. So after the Peacekeeper wars, Scorpius obviously decided he wanted to life his life in peace, so he found another wormhole and went to earth. And became a Pa'u?


Will on Doctor Who. When I realized this, my poor brain, it was blown. Especially because Will is a sweetheart and on Doctor Who he looked so evil, omg.


Tidwell on X-Files. So he's on a date with Scully until Mulder shows up and is like, "Aliens!" And Tidwell is like, "Spooky Mulder, I do not believe you." And then of course, Mulder's right because he's always right except for when Scully's right.


Karen Davis on Lost. Although I saw her on LOST first, so it could be the other way round. Whichever one you prefer to see it as.


Grady on iCarly. This was very odd. Especially because I love iCarly, and for some reason they only ever air the chicken episode, which I hate. So maybe Grady lived in Seattle pre-So Random. I guess that could make sense.


Everyone on that Fringe episode, What Lies Below. My poor Pendrell, that dude from Aaron Stone, Charlie Crews Sr. and Samantha Mulder!

I took an SAT practice test today. This X-Files song is so epic. Hardcover books are funner to read then softcover. Now I really want to watch some Family of Blood. I haven't eaten a proper lunch today. I am more lazy then I am hungry.

I Got Sunshine: Reasons to be happy today.

Good days always follow bad days. Yesterday was bad, Sunday was good, Saturday was awful, Friday was great, and so-on backwards. It's getting to the point that it might be all in my head, and an awful day is awful, because it's the day-that-should-be-bad. But that doesn't matter because today is a good day. And I've got reasons to be happy. And not even reasons like, the world hasn't exploded and my heart is still beating. Real reasons.


Hulu had an iCarly episode on demand I'd never seen before. Freddie gets Sam's face tatooed on his arm, and you are telling me that this isn't an otp?!


Those adorable Canadian gold medalist ice dancers! They are so young and presh! They've been skating together since they were eight. Ice dancing is so much prettier then ice skating. Less jumping and more style.


There is nothing as perfect as pancakes and coffee. We were going to get free pancakes at the IHOP, but the line was so long Daddy took us to the diner instead. The most beautiful thing in the world is breakfast out.


It's Scully's 46th birthday! Happy birthday, I hope you (and Mulder 'course) enjoy your day. It should be the law that all fictional characters need canon birthdays. It makes life funner.


ONTD posted that the Telephone video is going to be released this week, if this is not a reason to rejoice, I don't know what is.


This soundtrack, oh my gawd, this soundtrack is killing me. Comin' Home Baby sounds like School House Rock and On The Rebound is my new feel-good song.

Christmas: tv addict style

It's nearing Christmas, so everything in my life has to be soaked in holiday cheer. Including my tv choices. Sure we own like 15 Christmas movies, but when you want to surround yourself 24/7 with Christmas, you need a few more options. Which is why tv shows have Christmas episodes. Yup.


Lexmas, Smallville. And so, my massive soft spot for Lex/Lana comes out. I still firmly believe that this beautiful, sparkling, Christmassy world exists in some alternate time-line. This may be my favorite Christmas episode of any tv show. Their kids were adorable of course, and it was just so sad! Lex should always be a middle-class dad.


The Man in the Fallout Shelter, Bones. My bff and I had a Bones/Life watch off because we are competitive and crazy, and this was one of the episodes she had me watch. It was all full of Christmas Spirit, the music was awesome, Angela was hysterical. And the case was sad in a good way.


The Christmas Invasion, Doctor Who. Our first look at David Tennant as The Doctor, and he's rude and not ginger! Pretty much, on Doctor Who, London gets destroyed every Christmas. I would think they would have given up re-building, no? It's a fun episode, and has much holiday cheer, and Harriett Jones is in it.


iChristmas, iCarly. So it's just another stereotypical, run-of-the-mill, It's A Wonderful Life parody. But I love anything that has to do with Spencer's utter lack of judgment, and it just makes me really happy. Also, he's a lawyer, duh! And Sam in prison was an odd, yet truthful touch.


How the Ghosts Stole Christmas, X-Files. Mulder catches wind of a ghosts story and wants to investigate. On Christmas Eve. Scully begrudgingly comes along. Exciting things happen, they almost die, and it ends with Christmas morning in Mulder's apartment. But we never find out what they bought each other.


Black Friday, Life. Black Friday begins the holiday season. There are Santas and elves and a dead guy in a Christmas display. Yet absolutely no Christmas cheer, in an ironic way. And Charlie buys Dani sunglasses and Tidwell buys her a fish, and she doesn't appreciate either one. And by Tuesday, I could be saying this to you in Dutch.


The Constant, LOST. This episode has very little to do with Christmas actually. But it takes place on Christmas Eve, and there's a Christmas tree and it's just the best episode of LOST ever. Romantic and perfect. Only the time travel really doesn't hold with the rest of the season(s), but I can overlook the weak sci-fi for the sake of Desmond's happiness.

Come on people, get your Christmas grooves on! Also tonight I watched a Pushing Daisies episode (which has nothing to do with Christmas), and it made me happy. My hot chocolate made me happy too.
