So, happy fourth of July! Today I shan't be posting happy pictures of red, white and blue stuff, but instead post some things that just scream "America" to me personally.
Motels of course always just feel American, as do diners and road trips and hot dogs and everything related to the Midwest.
Disney. And everything related to it. Epcot, The Disney Channel, the movies, the merchandise, Liberty Square, Mickey Mouse, High School Musical. Only in America people.
Johnny Tremian. Apart from the fact that I've had a wild crush on him since forever, this might be the single best piece of historical fiction written about our country.
No where else in the world can you get pancakes the way we make them here. Sorry, but crepes are so not the same.
Aliens. Doctor Who aside, they are such an American thing... all those old B movies in the 50's, Rosewell, Men in Black, The X-Files... In Monsters VS Aliens a newscaster says, "Once again, a UFO has landed in America, the only country UFOs ever seem to land in."
Clark Kent and Lois Lane. Actually, Clark should be filed under "alien" but he's awesome enough to get his own picture. Can't get more American then "Truth, Justice and the American Way!"
Everyone has their own personal America, and this is mine. So everyone enjoy the holiday! I am off to re-read Johnny Tremain and watch me some Liberty's Kids before dinner.
