Sabe's Precious Little Life

If my life had a face I would punch it.

Today I made vegan chocolate cake because it was the only recipe I could find that didn't need chocolate chips or nuts or fruit or whatever.

Today I started Cannery Row by Steinbeck. It's pretty good so far. America is really weird.

Today I fell asleep while reading Cannery Row.

Today I got mad at the BPL for being closed on weekends and not being more prompt with my books. I did not return my due books out of protest.

Today I watched
We're So Screwed Part II and III. Random Fact: Watch this Taylor Swift video, from 1:45-2:14. Now watch John and Aeryn.

Today I was too lazy to make myself a proper lunch. I had yogurt and dreamed about a sandwich with arugula on it... and maybe cucumbers.

Today I bought a Naked from Walgreens and watched a Spencer Tracy movie before bed.

Today I could have drawn, worked on my still-born story, cleaned my room, gotten ready for school, or learned to juggle. I didn't.

In which I remember other television exists.

So I am mourning the recent passing of The X-Files. We still have I Want to Believe, but we're saving it... for tomorrow. ANYWAY. This post is dedicated to the two shows returning this fall, the one show I am almost done with and the two shows I want to watch.

Show Returning in the Fall #1. Fringe. I have high hopes for this show as it enters its third season. All I can do is hope that it lives its life on-air well. It has a definite story and I just hope it gets to tell that story.

Show Returning in the Fall #2. Smallville. I've been watching it on and off since season 4, and regularly since season 6. And now that it's entering its last season I'm beginning to realize how much I'll miss Lois' shenanigans and Clark's man tears and Chloe's unrealistic hacking skills.

Show I am Almost Done With #1. Farscape. Watching Farscape and The X-Files has made me completely rearrange my priorities for good television and good television romances. This show is not for everyone but it's practically perfect for me.

Show I Want to Watch #1. My So-Called Life. Can I say 90's? I've seen a few clips on Youtube and it looks like the cutest show ever made. I have a not-so-secret obsession with 90's grunge and stuff, so this is like the jackpot.

Show I Want to Watch #2. Twin Peaks. If The X-Files is sometimes called the mother of Fringe then Twin Peaks is the mother of The X-Files. (Wild, Wild West is obviously the mother of all three, but that is off topic.) Keep the trend going, no? Government agencies and weird stuff.

(If and when I get pregnant my husband will just have to put up with me yelling "something's
wrong with the baby!" all the time. Et tu, Aeyrn Sun?)

Soup and sandwiches and sexy coffee

Are you hungry in Manhattan? Do you want to be reasonable but you can't stomach fast food? Are you tired of Starbuck's limited selection? Are you dubious of just walking into restaurants? Then you need to try some of Manhattan's popular upper-scale fast food chains.

Dean and Deluca. It's one of the nicer (and therefore more expensive) of the bunch. They have great quiche, scones and baked goods. Their sandwiches are pre-made and run about $9 but they are amazing. There are some vegetarian options. Their tea selection is stellar.

Pret a Manger. They have great sized salads, amazing soup, pre-made sandwiches and yogurt and stuff. Best part? The soup is only $3! They also have sushi and a really nice dessert collection.

Au Bon Pain. Sadly there are only a few in the city but Au Bon Pain is one of my favorite places to eat. They have fresh sandwiches and salads put together on the spot, good coffee selections, soup and crusty bread. But of course what they are famous for it their massive selection of baked goods and pastries!

Cucina and Co. Going to Herald Square? Then go the Cucina and Co. They have amazing hot food for affordable prices, pre-made sandwiches, a salad bar, sushi and dessert.

Europa Cafe. $6.25 for a massive wrap and I'm a happy camper. They have a huge selection of sandwiches and wraps on all sorts of bread. They have pre-made salads and a salad bar, little pizzas and quiches, the whole nine yards. The coffee is good too.

Hale and Hearty. Soups and bakes goods and sandwiches on godlike bread, also salads if you're not so much of a bread person. The soup is really reasonable, the sandwiches are a tad over-priced.

Pax Wholesome Foods. Pizzas and sandwiches and wraps and all that good crapolla. It's great for kids too, they have some more "normal" options. Plus with $6.75 soup-and-half-sandwich deals you really can't go wrong! Also offers all those specialty coffees we love so much.

ASDFGHJKL; Another Sufjan album set for October, this is maddnesss! I finally got to listen to Avalanche this summer. And then he goes and releases All Delighted People, almost giving me a heart-attack and now he goes and springs this upon us? Sufjan you are a god, I swear.

Be my teenage dream tonight.

I love Katy Perry with a massive and unashamed love.

Katy Perry vs Zooey Deschanel. There are two types of girls in the 21st century. Katy girls and Zooey girls. I am a Katy girl forever and always.

Thinking of You. Although I'm not a fan of her ballads this song is lyrically adorable.

California Gurls is one of the better summer songs this year. The Snoop Dog part makes me so happy.

Hot n Cold. This song needs to be made into a Sesame Street segment about opposites. Make it happen Katy.

Teenage Dream makes me feel all young and flirty which, me being who I am, is a pretty epic achievement.

A side note. I am in lesbians with Monica Reyes.
Another side note. I had a waffle cone today.

I'm a Yankee Doodle sweetheart

So I love the Colonial time period with a fierce and burning passion.

Felicity: An American Girl Adventure. I'm not much of a romcom girl so when I get in the mood to watch some complete fluff I always end up watching Felicity. A Great Colonial Film or The Greatest Colonial Film?

Liberty's Kids. 40 episodes of historically accurate stories supplemented with three awesome teenagers who follow Washington and Jefferson hither thither and yon. Sarah and James: Great Colonial Romance or Greatest Colonial Romance?

Johnny Tremain. This book has been shuffled around on my list of favorites for as long as I can remember. It will always be on that list.

Chains. I really loved this book, I don't even know. I didn't think that I would like it but I did.

The Dreamer. I just found this yesterday. Literally YESTERDAY. I already love it. It's a brilliant webcomic filled to the brim with sexy Colonial.

Sitting here with my coffee, waiting for my brother to be done with the Disney Channel so I can watch the X-Files.
