In 2010: Events

Actually, it's been an uneventful year. I didn't see many plays or shows... Kinda sad really.

MoCCA Festival. Where I met Kate Beaton.

The Winter's Tale at the Delacorte. Where I saw my favorite Shakespeare play come to life, and bring me to tears.

Relient K with The Gay Blades and The Narrative. Where I fell in love with Matt... all over again.

German Intensive Language Camp at Millersville. Where "genau" was the word of the day.

Comic-Con Weekend. Where I felt comradery with my brothers in geekdom.

Eisley with Christie DuPree and Ives and the Band. Where I never get bored of Lost at Sea.

In 2010: Ships

Because what's a year without romance? NOT MUCH REALLY. Or at least not much fun.

Doggett and Reyes.
"
I was thinking about getting a cat."
"There's dog people, and there's cat people. You are a dog person, John.
"

John and Aeryn.
"Do you love John Crichton? Not him, not me. John Crichton."
"Yes."

Sunshine and Con.
"Have you ever lain in the arms of your sweetheart and tried to match your breathing to his, or hers? You do it automatically."

Rory and Amy.
"Rory Williams from Leadworth. My boyfriend. How could I ever forget you?
"
"Amy, you’ve got to run. I can’t hold on, I’m going!"
"You are Rory Williams and you aren’t going anywhere, ever again.
"

Eugene and Rapunzel
"You were my new dream."
"And you were mine."

Scott and Ramona.
"So... what you're saying is that we're dating?"
"I guess."

Leonard and Penny
"You know, Penny, we make such a good team, maybe we could enter a couple of Halo tournaments sometime."
"Or we could just have a life."

Howl and Sophie
"I think we ought to live happily ever after. It should be hair-raising."

In 2010: Books

I read 150 books this year. Paring that list down to my favorite fifteen almost killed me. But out of all 150 books these are the fifteen I'd most encourage someone (being YOU) to read.

Howl's Moving Castle, Diana Wynne Jones.

This Side of Paradise, F. Scott Fitzgerald.

O Pioneers, Willa Cather

Brideshead Revisited, Evelyn Waugh

Ender's Game, Orson Scott Card

Girl Meets God, Lauren F. Winner

The Custom of the Country, Edith Wharton

Home, Marilynne Robinson

Wise Blood, Flannery O'Connor

Fragile Things, Neil Gaiman

Spindle’s End, Robin McKinley

We Have Always Lived in the Castle, Shirley Jackson

Heretics/Orthodoxy, GK Chesterton

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Mark Haddon

A Thousand Splendid Suns, Khaled Hosseini

In 2010: People

You know, ~celebs~

Leighton Meester. This is mainly because she is beautiful. It is also partly because she has a nice singing voice, but mostly because she is beautiful.

Team Tardis '10. Matt Smith, Arthur Darvill, and Karen Gillan. Best hipsters. They seem really close and I think that bleeds into the show. It makes their characters a bit more likable, a bit more real.

Keanu Reeves. It was a year of Keanu. First of all I watched The Matrix, Speed, and Point Break, all staring him this year. Plus the Sad Keanu meme which made history all over the place. So much cooler than Strutting Leo!

Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer. The coolest kids ever. This year I read more Gaimain, I fell in love with Amanda's albums, and most of all, I fell in love with them as a couple.

Anna Kendrick. Besides being a totally adorable actress and human being, she is also a great fashion icon. (To me at least.)

Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir. Ice dancing has always been a favorite of mine, and they are just so perfect and amazing in everything they do, plus they're beautiful and gooey.

Sufjan Stevens. He deserves the Human of the Year Award, solely for putting out an EP that played the length of an album AND a full-length album. And for living in Brooklyn, where the cool kids live. (And for being bffs with Kanye West and Zach Levi... IN MY HEAD.)

In 2010: Movies

In theaters that is.

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. I was vaguely sad that it was so far from the book, but it was an excellent and fun movie on its own, so I didn't really care.

An Education. Flawless film starring my favorite actress ever. We saw it in this tiny theater on Henry Street, between Orange and Cranberry. We got tea there. It was a perfect day.

Alice in Wonderland. I saw this with Amanda, my favorite movie companion. Afterward we sat in Cadman Plaza and enjoyed the spring air.

Eclipse. Yeah, I spent $12 or whatever on this movie. No, I don't regret a second of it. For the Jasper fighting scene alone it was well worth it.

Toy Story 3. Family movie trip. We got their our traditional hour or so early. Everyone teared up.

Scott Pilgrim vs the World. My sister and I went to see this on our sister-date. It was life changing. My life has been changed.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. Basically, this was a perfect movie. I'm mad I only got to see it once.

Tangled. BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR. Saw it twice. Almost cried. Laughed out loud. Etc. Disney is back on top, ya'll.
